Free seminar set to show Staffordshire firms why they are newsworthy
Stafford
based PR firm Stone Junction will be holding a free seminar entitled
‘Why your business is newsworthy’ on December 8, at the Beacon
International Centre in Stafford. The seminar is open to all businesses
in Staffordshire and is being organised in partnership with The Business Innovation Centre (BIC). The networking event is set to help local companies find out how PR has changed with the advent of digital media and how they can use it to promote their businesses. The session will take attendees through the full process, from conceiving ideas and choosing media targets to taking advantage of new technologies and measuring their success.
The seminar is part of a series of sessions organised by the BIC, intended to help Staffordshire businesses develop, fund, market and profit from innovation. The BIC was established to assist firms and individuals in developing inventions, innovations and technology related issues.
Richard Stone, the managing director of Stone Junction will be delivering the seminar. He has over a decade’s experience in public relations and has represented companies including global engineering, IT and telecoms companies, such as WorldCom, BT, Schneider Electric, SKF and Parker Hannifin. He also has extensive experience in the small business and SME sector and currently represents a number of Staffordshire businesses, including Accutronics, European Automation and Powermaster, as well as a range of other companies both across the UK and abroad.
“Most business owners and SME business managers think that their own businesses aren’t newsworthy,” explained Richard Stone, managing director of Stone Junction. “But my experience is different. My experience tells me that small, agile and dynamic companies often make the most exciting news. They can be creative, they can express opinion and they can take advantage of media opportunities that larger companies can’t.
“This is all serious stuff but we are going to try and make the seminar fun as well. People absorb more when they are doing something memorable and the whole point of the day is to provide the delegates with something useful that will help them move their business forward. We hope to leave them with a clear understanding of what PR can do and how it can help promote their innovation.” he concluded.
