Tech PR agency expands STEM expertise
Stone Junction's growing client base leads to recruitment drive
Technology and technical PR agency Stone Junction has appointed STEM graduate Chelsea Heard, to help service its rapidly expanding client portfolio. The new appointment will boost the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) PR expertise the company offers.
A recent graduate from the University of Birmingham with an integrated master’s degree in Biological Sciences, Heard is one of seven people who’ve joined Stone Junction since November 2016 – almost doubling the agency’s team.
During her time at university, Heard studied many disciplines under the broad biology umbrella, but focused on health in her final year, including a laboratory project researching traumatic brain injury. She has worked and volunteered alongside vulnerable adults and children in her spare time, which led to her developing an interest in combining her communication and technical writing skills in the form of PR.
“Despite my love for science, I knew I wanted to use my other skills following graduation,” explained Heard. “I remain really interested in science and scientific developments, so the technical nature of Stone Junction’s clients is very exciting for me. I am looking forward to combining my communication skills with the technical and research knowledge and experience I gained during my degree.”
Stone Junction’s technical expertise has led to it winning the Chartered Institute of PR’s 2015 award for STEM PR and the Public Relations Consultancy Association’s 2016 award for Trade and B2B PR.
Heard’s appointment couldn’t come at a better time, with Stone Junction’s impressive client base increasing rapidly. The agency will continue to recruit throughout 2016 and expects to finish the year with around 20 members of the team.

Meet the team
Stone Junction is managed by Richard Stone, whose previous experience includes PR campaigns for Arup, AIT Plc, CIENA, Parker Hannifin, Schneider Electric, SIG, SKF, Roche and WorldCom. Well over a decade in technical and technology PR has taught him that he is only just starting out. He is a very slightly geeky father of two who lives in Stafford with his long suffering wife, aforementioned children, dog and cat.
Junction has been going from strength to strength, building up its
client base and championing the achievements of technical and
engineering firms, some of which are in Staffordshire."
