A client recently recommended an up to date book about search engine optimisation that I thought I would pass on to all of you. It’s called 50 Ways to Make Google Love your Web Site by Steve Johnston and Liam McGee and the thing I like about it is that it explains some common concepts in new ways. And by thinking about something differently you can often pick up the insights you need to make those all important small tweaks to your search engine optimisation.

This book isn’t aimed at SEO practitioners though; it’s really for interested small business owners and marketeers who want to improve their knowledge. It’s a practical title as well; there is plenty of ‘how to’ as well as ‘why you should’.

For me though, the crucial thing is that the book was published recently. This is essential for an SEO title. If you buy one that’s even a year out of date you might well end up wasting a lot of time on techniques that have no impact at all on your Web site.
