A huge part of what we do at Stone Junction is generating media coverage for our clients. But, the final destination of a piece of coverage doesn’t have to be the publication it appears in.

Social media
The first thing you should do with media coverage is share it on your company’s social media channels, such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook. Take advantage of engagement features like hashtags and mentions, as they enable you to cite the journalist or publication and appear in search.

On LinkedIn, you can share the coverage from your company and personal pages.   There’s also a good chance that your press coverage will be picked up by its “Mentioned in the News” feature, which automatically detects when members or organisations on the site appear in news stories. Using this feature, you can automatically notify people in your network that you’ve appeared in the media.

You can also add a shortlist to your LinkedIn profile with all the places you been mentioned in the media using the Experience section of your profile.

Share internally
When you get a piece of media coverage, it’s natural to want to share it. One of the first things you should do is share it internally with your colleagues and even with family and friends. You can also ask your colleagues to share the news on their professional or personal social networks to promote the coverage further.

Sales material
Coverage can help generate new business, as it acts as third-party credibility and showcases your expertise, so remember to tell your prospects about the good media coverage you’re getting. Armed with a new piece of editorial, your sales team can prove your brand’s credibility and show you that you are an expert in your field.

In addition to passing coverage onto your sales team, editorial can also be used in collateral marketing materials. For example, you could include a link to your latest online article in your e-newsletter or add an “as seen in” section to your home page. When potential customers see the logo of a credible news site on a website, it immediately makes the site look more reputable.

Of course, being able to make the most of coverage depends on you having a media presence. To find out how Stone Junction can help you appear in trade press, national media and even international publications, get in touch on 01785 225416 or e-mail me at
