November is underway and the lead up to Christmas can be seen everywhere. From shop window displays and ad campaigns, to the all-important Christmas light switch-on events and stockpiling pigs in blankets, Christmas really is all around. But have you got your corporate Christmas card plans in order? Don’t leave it too late to send your clients a festive greeting!
By Carla Stanton, graphic designer at Stone Junction.
We always push the boat out with our Christmas card designs and each year we like to create something pretty unique. Read on for my top tips for creating the perfect corporate Christmas card, before the last post deadlines!
Plan ahead – it pays to be organised. Find out when the last Christmas post deadlines are and make a reverse time line detailing your printer lead times, as well as time to stuff the cards into envelopes. If you allow seven to ten working days for printing you can work back to see how long you have to prepare your final design. Realistically, if you aren’t starting to plan this week, then you are likely going to be cutting it close!
Simple, effective design – it doesn’t have to be intricate. As the saying goes, less is more. You want an eye-catching design that is appealing to customers, clients and business partners alike — but it doesn’t have to contain all the trimmings! Blocks of colour and simple graphics, or the use of a festive photo or two can work well.
Be light-hearted, fun and creative in your ideas. Make it memorable and even include some subliminal branding so clients remember who to call in the new year!
Look for printing deals and discounts. This time of year, discounts are everywhere. Suppliers such as trade printer Marqetspace offer some great deals on their Christmas card products and make it even more simple by offering a downloadable design template. You don’t have to break the bank to get a good looking finished product.
