You might be aware that earlier this year GAP re-designed its logo, only to withdraw the resultant graphic in response to overwhelming public dislike. Good on them. 

But did you know that enterprising design Blog ISO50 ran a competition amongst its readers to re-design the original GAP logo, just for fun? 

You can see the results here, and some of them are pretty good as well. Some of them are as eye wateringly bad as GAP’s original re-design as well of course. But that’s part of the fun.

From the point of view of the industrial marketing function though, the competition entries do illustrate how one can evolve a logo subtly, without causing disaffection in your customer base.
