MADE SMARTER: WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR PR?

According to the Made Smarter review, industrial digitalisation could be worth £455bn to Britain’s manufacturers. The Government review sets out recommendations to make the UK a world leader in the so-called fourth industrial revolution (4IR) — that’s Industry 4.0, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) or any other phrase you’ve heard to describe digitalisation in manufacturing.

But, what does this actually mean for Britain’s manufacturers?

Put simply, Britain’s industrial landscape is changing. One of the main recommendations of Made Smarter is to establish a major brand campaign to increase awareness of how digital technologies can transform industry. This is to be delivered by both the Government and industry — and that includes you.

Whether you’re a manufacturer of Industrial Digitalisation Technologies (IDTs), like robotics, automation, software, or you use these automated technologies to improve your operations, Made Smarter affects you.

There’s never been a better opportunity to get behind Britain’s industrial ambitions. PR is about establishing an opinion on the things that matter in your industry and making sure your customers know you’re an expert.

We can help to establish your position as a key manufacturer, supplier or developer of IDTs — or inform your customers about how you’re using these technologies to improve your products, operations and productivity.

As a specialist industrial and engineering PR agency, we’re advising clients on how to respond to the Made Smarter review and how they can ensure their businesses don't get left behind. To arrange a chat with one of our team, e-mail laura@stonejunction.co.uk or call 01785 225416.
