GRANDDAUGHTER OF ACCLAIMED SCIENTIST JOINS PR AGENCY
Award-winning technical and scientific PR agency Stone Junction has strengthened its growing team with the appointment of Jasmin Shearan as an account executive. Coming from a prestigious scientific family, Jasmin brings an innate enthusiasm for STEM subjects to the company.
Jasmin is the granddaughter of the late Douglas Max Bryce, a highly praised chemist and naturalist. Bryce had a successful career as a chemist, inventing the eczema-relief cream E45 whilst working at Boots, and serving as the 1984 President of the Society of Cosmetic Scientists.
The supreme passion Bryce had for science was also demonstrated in his spare time, when he became an expert in bryophytes and regularly conducted valuable animal and plant surveys.
The work of Bryce inspired Jasmin to learn about the sciences, as it did most of her family. Jasmin excelled in science at school her desire to learn about the world around her led to a degree in Biology at the University of Sheffield. Here, she continued to develop her scientific knowledge, and strengthened it further with a research trip to the Arctic Circle.
It was by attending career talks at university, and helping organise a public science lecture for children, that Jasmin discovered her passion for communicating STEM subjects. This led her perfectly to a career in STEM PR.
Jasmin joins Stone Junction as an account executive, to help increase media coverage and improve the public reputation of a diverse array of STEM companies. Stone Junction has doubled in size year on year, and the recruitment of knowledgeable and professional staff members has significantly contributed to its success.
“My Grandad and I were very close. His legacy continues to inspire me every day,” explains Jasmin. “I firmly believe that he would be proud of my appointment at Stone Junction. I am excited to start my own career in STEM.”
“Stone Junction is determined to excel in everything we do, and providing a knowledgeable resource for our clients,” said Richard Stone, managing director. “I am really pleased that our new recruit Jasmin shares our passion for STEM subjects and will help us reach our company goals. Plus, it is absolutely, rip-roaringly cool that her grandad invented E45 cream.”
