Stafford Town Galaxy U10 Girls have a reason to celebrate National Women in Sports Day [NWSD] thanks to sponsorship from local PR agency, Stone Junction. The agency hopes its financial support of the team will ensure continued equal opportunities for Staffordshire sportswomen. The gender gap in football is comparable to the lack of women securing top PR roles — only 38 per cent find themselves in the boardroom during their career.
NWSD is held every year by the Women’s Sports Foundation, to encourage prominent women and businesses to support local female-centric sports clubs.
As strong advocates for gender equality, Stone Junction hopes that its investment in Stafford Town inspires young girls to participate in sport and gain the confidence needed to succeed as adults.
“We always promote best practice at Stone Junction and gender equality is best practice.” says managing director of Stone Junction, Richard Stone. “Over 65 per cent of our senior leaders are women, several of whom come from STEM backgrounds. By supporting Stafford Town and National Women’s Sports Day we’re helping organisations that encourage girls to break the mould — and there are clear parallels there with women in STEM”
“Giving girls an outlet to express themselves through sport allows them to build the confidence and strength of character to become strong leaders in life.“ says Galaxy Under 10’s coach, Matt Walker “It’s so important that nobody feels like any door is closed to them.”
Stone Junction is a technical, STEM and media marketing specialist agency which works with both national and international manufacturing, scientific and industrial businesses. The company has won 27 PR awards since 2016 and is set to expand internationally by the end of 2020.
