Since its launch in the summer of 2011, Google+ has been described as more than a social network; it is a social layer covering many of its online properties. Google+ integrates social services such as Google Profiles, Circles, Hangouts and Sparks. So it’s a no brainer that it can help you rank higher in SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages) than all of the other social media platforms combined.

Today’s post is about ten easy tips you can follow in order to make Google+ an integral part of your SEO campaigns. In this story, web optimisation gurus at SEOMoz demonstrate how you can raise your visibility by getting more engaged with other users, who in turn will share your posts or link directly to your profile.

One useful useful bit of information is that, by sharing new content on Google+, you increase the chances of getting your page quickly indexed by Google, as new URLs are crawled almost instantly.

However, my favourite tip from SEOMoz is connecting with influencers and stalking them… I mean engaging with them!

For instance, if your profile reads blue widgets engineer, then the best way to start a conversation with a multinational blue widgets manufacturer is to actively engage. Try mentioning them in a post and then sharing that post directly; leave comments on their blog, tag them in a photo or invite them to events – it all helps create a professional relationship, albeit an online one.
