For content marketing to be truly effective, it needs to be up to date. Let's take the website of an automotive parts manufacturer for example. Content written five years ago will no doubt contain old accreditations, certificates and services. Not only does this make your business look like it can't keep up with industry regulations, it means you aren’t showing off your newest services. 

From an SEO perspective, people searching for these unstated services are less likely to find you — which may mean these potential leads land on your competitors' website rather than yours. 

It's not just new services that need a mention, but also new applications. An automotive parts manufacturer may have made the same parts over the last 30 years, but the introduction of electric vehicles and driverless cars opens a new market. It may be the same parts you offer, but these new applications need to be optimized for throughout any web content.
