THE ONE WHERE STONE JUNCTION HIRES FORMER BBC BROADCASTER
Specialist PR agency Stone Junction has appointed former BBC broadcast assistant Matthew Perry to support its existing audio tactics. Not to be confused with the popular Friends actor of the samename, Perry will spearhead the new voice search service as well as assist in developing thought-leading content for engineering businesses.
Stone Junction’s newest recruit first joined the ranks of Radio Stoke in 2019, becoming one of the BBC’s youngest broadcast journalists aged just twenty. He pursued his communications work through further study, completing a degree in Sports Journalism at Staffordshire University.
Over the last two years, Perry has built-up invaluable experience working everyday with journalists, high profile media outlets and fellow broadcasters. The appointment is a further addition to the company’s ever-expanding team of STEM, PR and language specialists.
Perry joins Stone Junction after a bumper year of recruitment, being one of 21 executives hired in the last 18 months.
“With experience in both broadcast journalism and PR, I hope to bring a highly media orientated approach to the clients I service,” explains Perry. “My work with BBC Stoke and Stoke City Football club means I’m best prepared to approach journalists, work on our internal media handling and provide support to new recruits on how best to achieve great coverage. Could I be any happier to join Stone Junction? I don’t think so.”
Managing director Richard Stone, hails the appointment as a continuation of a longstanding commitment to great media relations and communication within the agency.
“Stone Junction is always looking for ways to excel at what we do,” says Stone. " Recruiting from a wide array of backgrounds in either STEM, PR or journalism, linguistics or graphics allows us to avoid the traditional disadvantages of single discipline PR agencies".
“Matty brings with him useful additional experience in media and public relations that will be a particular benefit to our clients, including our social and SEO campaigns with global research initiative the Graphene Flagship.”
When not being confused with Chandler Bing, Matty enjoys spiced rum, West Bromwich Albion and orange chips — if you know, you know.
